McLean is a community that treasures its rich heritage and natural beauty on Lake Wylie. The best of the Charlotte region is close by, from the quaint village of Belmont to vibrant downtown Charlotte and one of the nation’s largest airports. Yet McLean’s cloistered setting at the juncture of two natural rivers abounds with charm and character.
Each day is an opportunity to enjoy McLean’s magic. Legendary cherry trees at the walkway to South Shore will soon burst into bloom. Wildflowers decorate the forest trails to nearby Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden.
And here at McLean, the Charlotte region’s newest lakeside community, a year of remarkable change is set to unfold. The carefully planned transformation of the historic Seven Oaks farm into a great community of exquisite homes and gracious living has begun. We invite you to share the transformation via our new weekly blog, from Land to Lake.
Each weekly post will chronicle our progress in crafting this memorable community. McLean’s 670 acres of fields and woodlands and 5 miles of Lake Wylie shoreline have been sensitively master-planned to honor this land’s rich heritage and preserve its natural treasures.
Seven of the Southeast’s finest homebuilders have begun crafting lakefront and estate homes near the lake in our first neighborhood, South Shore. Our posts will share details of the new construction, development of amenities such as clubhouses, and preservation of more than 130 acres of waterfront, woodlands and ponds.
Our posts will also explore the wonderful diversity of people, places and experiences that await nearby.
We’ll take regular visits to popular destinations, including shops and restaurants in Historic Downtown Belmont, the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden and the wet and wild U.S. National Whitewater Center.
And we’ll offer regular samplings of local activities for all ages and interests.
Even now, in early spring, we have much to enjoy close at hand.
For hikers, there’s the Valentines Weekend 5K at the Seven Oaks Preserve.
For photo and flora lovers, Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden hosts Art & Orchids 2016, featuring its extensive orchid displays and works by award-winning photographers.
Live performances await at Belmont Abbey College. Students will present “The Lark,” Jean Anouilh’s brilliant play about Joan of Arc, while artists in residence Carolina Pro Musica will perform 18th century works in the historic Abbey Basilica.
