McLean on Lake Wylie had an incredible 2018, with record home sales, the opening of our third neighborhood, the launch of Seven Oaks Café and much more. This year promises even more attractive new offerings and events for this captivating community.
2018 marks second year of record sales at McLean!
McLean’s 12 builders sold and completed more than 100 homes for the second consecutive year, including several impressive custom waterfront homes and numerous estate homes beside ponds, woods and common areas in the prestigious South Shore neighborhood.
The Overlake neighborhood, featuring traditional single-family homes by Shea Homes and Evans Coghill Homes, opened in mid-year near the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden.
The Conservancy neighborhood’s focus on easy living continued to charm buyers seeking one-floor-plus homes and low-maintenance yards.
Essex Homes and M/I Homes have nearly finished the neighborhood’s phase overlooking the Seven Oaks Nature Preserve and community green.
Coming in 2019
We look forward to expanding into The Conservancy’s Phase II, located across South New Hope Road from Overlake, plus the addition of bocce courts at the neighborhood center that includes a clubhouse fitness center and recently completed pet park.
Overlake’s pool, pavilion and playground will open to residents this year.
In South Shore, Peachtree Residential will introduce new farmhouse-style single-family designs. John Wieland Homes and the team of custom-home builders also have new designs in the works. A new play park will open, as well.
Community garden takes root
The agricultural heritage of McLean is celebrated with a new community garden beside the Seven Oaks Café. Several residents and café staff had successful first-year harvests. We look forward to more in 2019!
Seven Oaks Café opens at McLean
Fine dining and catering found a home in McLean in 2018, with the opening of the Seven Oaks Café in the historic John McLean House.
Developed by the people behind Belmont’s popular String Bean restaurant, Seven Oaks Café has built a strong following with its tasty lunches, dinners, Sunday brunches and Low Country Boils. Learn more.
McLean gives back
Our support of community events and programs grew in 2018, including sponsorship of Belmont’s Friday Night Live concerts, the Nightmare on Main Street event, and National Trails Day events by the Catawba Lands Conservancy. McLean also is helping Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden celebrate its 25th anniversary.
One of our builders, Andrew Roby Signature Homes, gave support to the Make A Wish – Pitchin’ for Wishes Cornhole Tourney. Over the last decade, Roby has helped raise more than $1.4 million!
Good times for residents and visitors
Perhaps the biggest change of 2018 was the emergence of McLean as a living, breathing community with hundreds of neighbors.
Several events helped our residents and guests build lasting bonds, including the July 4th celebration, the South Shore Football Open House, a social event in November at neighboring Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden, and December holiday parties at the Conservancy and South Shore clubhouses.
